Stateline residents have been receiving a text on their cell phone saying their credit card has been compromised and instructing the individual to call their credit card company or bank at a number given in the text.
When people call the number, they get an automated message asking to put in their credit card number in order to stop any unauthorized charges. Once the number is entered, the suspect(s) have access to use the account for fraudulent activities.
We have also seen messages from Devon Bank with the address of: 773848dvn@vtext.com; 273377@vtext.com; 0495@vtext.com.
Please do not respond to these text messages as they are potential telephone scams. When in doubt call your financial institution directly.
